CEDAR. Founder & CEO

At the heart of Cedar’s Academy is Founder & CEO, Cedar Lapp who has successfully led Vancouver’s premier makeup school for the past 4 years. She has helped graduate over 300 students, won Vancouver’s Best Beauty School two years running, has opened CAMA Studios to help with job placement for artists, and… moving into the academy’s 5th year, Cedar is looking to expand Cedar’s Academy to a second location in Seattle and produce a high-end cosmetics and skincare line, CAMA Cosmetics and CAMA Skin.

It is Cedar’s vision to cultivate artists of quality, support them through their entrepreneurial journeys, and in turn, create a network of beauty professionals that elevate the industry in the Pacific Northwest. By founding Cedar’s Academy, CAMA Studios, CAMA Cosmetics, and CAMA Skin, Cedar is on her way to doing just that.

Cedar’s background in the beauty industry includes twelve years as a successful Freelance Makeup Artist, a Certified Permanent Makeup Artist, a Certified Bellami Hair Extension Artist, a Certified MAC artist, and an entrepreneur who has owned/managed other businesses in her past. She has the ability to recognize and accentuate the natural beauty of her clients. This rare talent, along with the chameleon-like skills that allow her to adapt to different projects she acquires, is what makes her an illustrious makeup artist and successful entrepreneur.

Since incorporating Spanish/English classes at Cedar’s Academy four years ago, Nancy has been the key to the success of the academy’s Spanish-speaking students. Nancy graduated from Cedar’s Academy herself and has since become a successful freelance makeup artist. On top of that, Nancy keeps herself busy as the owner of Ramcy Construction Company and CEO of Pretty and Curvy Body Contouring. Her optimism, infectious smile, and encouraging attitude, along with her amazing skills as a Certified Makeup Artist, are what make her an asset to Cedar’s Academy’s team of instructors.

“I’d be proud and happy to help you on your makeup artistry journey. I love to inspire people to become their own boss and I welcome all who are looking for a change.”

Charlie works behind the scenes helping to keep things organized and running smoothly. Everything from the website and social media management to event planning, to admissions and enrollment... Charlie has a hand in pretty much everything.

After earning her bachelor's in fine arts, Charlie dove right in as an entrepreneur and opened Ora Nui Tahitian Dance Troupe. She owned and successfully operated it for 10 years before handing it down to her sister. The dance studio is where she met Cedar and the two opened Cedar's Academy of Makeup Artistry. Charlie has been in and out of the academy for the past few years but has since returned full-time to help with expansion and management. She is happiest when busy and useful so don't be surprised if you see her running about at the academy.

LIA. Bilingual Instructor

Lia of “Lia Makeup Artist” has been a freelance makeup artist for 7 years. She got her big break in the pageant industry and is now the official makeup artist of Miss Oregon Latina, Miss Teen Oregon Latina, Miss Hispanoamericana, Miss Expo Quinceanera, and Miss USA Latina. Lia loves to see her artistry on stage, helping accentuate the already beautiful features of the young women she works with.

As an ace student, Lia made her way through Cedar’s Academy’s course and became a Certified Makeup Artist quickly. It has been four years since then, and now she is back at the academy as an instructor. While still a student, Lia fell in love with the academy’s positive and creative environment. It became her “happy place”. Lia enjoyed being around other people who shared the same passion for makeup as she does. Now, Lia is glad to be back to help foster that same environment for her own students. She says she has the best job in the world teaching students all she knows, helping them become great artists themselves.

Lia believes in hard work, and she helps her students see the value in it as well. “If you truly want it, you need to work for it. ‘If you keep it in your head, you can hold it in your hands.’”
